Vocational Rehabilitation Service

What is Vocational Rehabilitation (VR)?

Vocational Rehabilitation is a cost-effective, multidisciplinary intervention which enables individuals with psychological, cognitive, physical, social or emotional challenges to overcome barriers to accessing, maintaining and returning to either their own or other suited forms of employment.

VR Processes and how we make a difference

All Form Health Vocational Rehabilitation Consultants are registered professionals (Nurses, Occupational Therapists, Occupational Psychologists or Ergonomists) with the skills and knowledge to assess and implement tailor-made interventions for your employees/claimants with a focus on returning to or sustaining work.

Our Vocational Rehabilitation Consultants have significant experience in the Occupational Rehabilitation sector and are skilled in assessing and providing recommendations and interventions to manage and support employees who are absent from, or struggling in, the workplace.

The starting point for our Vocational Rehabilitation Service is to develop a practical and cost-effective intervention through an initial detailed psychosocial assessment with the employee, focusing on perceived barriers and capabilities. Assessments can be remote, by telephone/video or face to face if required. Information relating to medical history, current circumstances (medical and other) and related challenges faced in either returning to or sustaining work is gathered and discussed.

A report with bespoke recommendations for support is provided to the insurer/employer to consider. In addition to this, the employee will be provided with advice and information signposting them to relevant support already available to them during the assessment.

If required, following the initial Vocational Rehabilitation Assessment, the employee can be supported through ongoing vocational case management and, depending on their requirements, appropriate work-focused interventions are developed. These may be (but are not limited to): effective treatment (psychological, emotional, physical); suggestions for reasonable adjustments in the workplace, education and advice, Psychological Therapy support, Work Focused Functional Rehabilitation Programmes, Physiotherapy, and Graded Return to Work Programmes.

Form Health Vocational Rehabilitation Consultants will liaise closely with the employer and/or Insurer every step of the way, ensuring that all parties work together to support and facilitate a successful outcome.
